Authored by: Suraiya R Naicker (Head of Department of Education Leadership and Management) The Department of Education Leadership and Management (DELM) is led by two UJ alumni, having completed their Honours, Master’s and PhD’s at UJ. Dr Suraiya Naicker is currently the Head of Department and Dr Parvathi Naidoo the Deputy Head. Both were awarded PhD scholarships namely, the New Generations Scholarship and left leadership positions in secondary education to study at UJ. Dr Naidoo was a successful principal and Dr Naicker was a deputy principal, but both reinvented their careers as successful academics at UJ. In addition, Dr Sadi Seyama, a staff member in a Senior Lecturer position in the DELM, also emerged as an alumnus from the same Department. Dr Seyama completed both her Master’s and PhD in the DELM and continues to thrive with a best paper award
