A man who held Cornwall police at bay during a stand-off which lasted more than 10 hours in Cornwall on Wednes- day is facing a number of charges. Police called to the Bedford Street resi- dence to investigate a report of domestic assault when an intoxicated man barri- caded himself in the house. The 43-year-old suspect was removed from the home by Cornwall police’s emer- gency response team over the noon hour last Wednesday. He had been bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behavior, to abstain from alcohol and to not have contact with his 37-year-old common-law wife if under er the influence of alcohol. Cornwall area employers expect a posi- tive hiring climate for the third quarter of 2012, according to the latest Man- power Employment Outlook Survey. “Survey data reveals that 20 per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter (July to September), while three per cent anticipate cutbacks,” said Virginia Sten- ner of Manpower’s Cornwall office.
