SPECIAL RULES 1. Rabbits will be weighed at the time of judging. Market rabbits which are under or overweight will be ineligible to compete and may be released immediately after judging. 2. Poultry broiler pens may consist of cockerels, pullets, or a combination of both. Chickens only. 3. Hatchery receipts for poultry broiler pens and turkeys must accompany the entry or be dropped off in the Exhibits Office prior to entry deadline. 4. Market Turkeys must be owned at least 45 days prior to the opening day of Fair (purchased by 5/2/23). 5. Market Poultry must pass the mandatory health inspection on check-in day at Gate 12. 6. Market Poultry will be weighed by 10:00 AM on check-in day in their respective barns. Market animals which do not make weight will not be eligible to compete and must be removed from the fairgrounds after weigh-in. 7. Exhibitors will be responsible for daily feeding, watering, and cleaning of cages (rabbit meat pens, single fryers, poultry broiler pens, and turkeys alike) through the duration of the exhibit. 2. Exhibitors must reside in Alameda County to enter market animals and sell at the Auction. 3. Qualification to sell: “MARKET READY.” All Champions and Reserve Champions must be sold. 4. Market small animals will not be sold by the pound. Rabbits and Broiler Pens will be sold by the pen (3 rabbits per rabbit pen, 2 chickens per broiler pen). Single rabbit fryers will be sold by the head. Turkeys will be sold by the head. 5. An exhibitor may sell no more than 2 small animal market entries (rabbit meat pen, rabbit single fryer, broiler chicken pen, single turkey, or the combination of 1 of each, but not exceeding 2 total small animal market entries) OR 1 small animal market entry and 2 large animal market animals. In the event an exhibitor has two Champion/Reserve meat pens/broilers/turkeys, then he/she may sell 2 large animals in addition to his/her Champion small animal market entry. All Champions must be sold regardless of if they are classified as small or large livestock. 6. Members must be present, in show attire, to sell at the Auction. 7. Exhibitors must furnish a basket to carry the rabbits and broiler chicken pens through the auction. 8. No animal will be sold more than once. 9. All rabbits and poultry will be live pick up only, turkeys will have the option for processing through coordination with the turkey species leader. Buyers must remove animals immediately following the auction. 10. A 5% commission from each meat pen will be withheld from seller’s check to defray incidental auction expenses. 11. SALE CHECK WILL BE MAILED TO EXHIBITORS AUCTION DATE: July 9, 2023, at 9:00 AM AUCTION SPECIAL RULES 1. Sale animals will not receive cash awards for judging.
