Open Small Animals Department Rules

Submission of entry constitutes as agreement to the following rules: 1. Competition is open to adult worldwide residents. Entries will be accepted on a space available basis; according to the date entry form is received. 2. Youth, 9 through 17 years of age, must show in the Junior Small Animal Department. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 5 MAY COMPETE IN ANY SMALL ANIMAL DIVISION OR CLASS. 3. The Fair Association reserves the right to refuse any entry or refuse to display any entry considered not to be in accordance with the rules of entry or in the best interests of the Fair. 4. ENTRIES: All entries MUST be identified by permanent ear tattoo or leg band to conform to the entry form before entering the grounds. All entries will be checked at delivery. 5. ALL POULTRY EXHIBIT BIRDS MUST GO THROUGH THE POULTRY HEALTH INSPECTION BEFORE ENTERING THE FAIRGROUNDS. INSPECTIN TENT LOCATED THROUGH GATE 12 NEAR SHUTTLE AREA. 6. Unhealthy exhibits will be returned to owner as soon as possible. The judge may excuse an exhibit from competition. 7. RELEASE: a. All entries must be removed as scheduled. The Fair has no provisions for caring for exhibits and will assume no responsibility for exhibits not picked up as specified. b. EARLY RELEASE of exhibit animals will result in forfeiture of all awards. c. RELEASE SLIPS are required to leave the Fairgrounds. Exhibitors are responsible for obtaining release slips from the Small Animal checkout table. 8. The greatest care will be exercised in the handling of exhibits, but the fair staff, the fair association, and the County of Alameda will not be held responsible for loss, theft, or damage of any kind from any cause. Submission of entry constitutes an agreement to this effect. 9. SALE OF EXHIBITS: Non-competitive animals sold by exhibitor and judged exhibits may be sold through the Sales Office with the following policies: a. To sell, complete a contract in the Sales Office after judging. Fair personnel will identify exhibits for sale. NO PERSONAL SALES NOTES are allowed. b. All sales completed at the Fair are subject to 20% commission for administrative costs. Sale checks will be mailed after Fair. c. Sellers are responsible to ensure the health of animals until release. The Alameda County Fair Association, its agents, employees, or representatives do not guarantee the condition of the birds/rabbits upon release.
