Tipping You are not obligated to tip in PNG, however it is appreciated in the tourism and hospitality sectors. If you do wish to give a tip we advise you check with the manager or operator on how best it should be done as tips are often equally shared. Roads Vehicles in PNG are right-hand drive, and we drive on the left side of the road. International licences are accepted for up to one month. Trading Hours Standard commercial trading hours are between Monday and Friday from 8am to 5pm, and retailers are also open on Saturdays from 8am to 12pm. Government office service hours are usually between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. Electricity Electricity can be erratic and you are likely to experience some outages wherever you are in PNG. Seasons Typically the dry

season is between May and November followed by a wet season in the months of December through to April.

Tax A 10% Goods &

Services Tax (or Value Added Tax) is applied to all transactions in shops, hotels, bars, restaurants and clubs. In most cases you will find GST is included in the advertised price.
