Getting Around

In most towns and cities,

Getting around on foot is fine in provincial cities such as Alotau, Kavieng, Kokopo, Madang, Rabaul and Wewak. Check with your hotel or host beforehand if you have any hesitations

regarding safety. In general make sure you do not carry valuables on your person or wander around on foot after dark. Travel throughout Papua New Guinea is hugely dependent on aeroplanes, helicopters and passenger ships. When travelling outside of Port Moresby, flying is by far the fastest and easiest way of

getting around. Air Niugini and PNG Air operate
