Deals with the experience of conversion, what a Chris­ tian is, how to grow in grace, to pray, to read the Bible, and discusses the matter of assurance and one's relation to the church. The style is simple and questions follow each chapter. The book could be used as the basis for a study class of new converts. THE H O LY SPIR IT by Edwin H. Palmer. 174 pages; cloth; Baker Book House, Grand Rapids; $3.50. The standard aspects of the person and work of the Spirit are presented here in the Reformed tradition by a Christian Reformed pastor who graduated from the Free University of Amsterdam. The more special subjects, such as the sin against the Holy Ghost and the special gifts of the spirit, are not adequately dealt with. FAITH A N D ITS D IFFIC U LTIES by J. H. There is more philosophy in this treatment than the average Am erican is accustomed to, but the issues faced are basic and the guidance helpful to the intel­ lectual student. A misguided patriot, the enigmatic figure finally is found at the foot of the cross asking the dead Jesus to call down the curses of God upon him. The author has him surviving his hanging, however, in the end ond coming out of the dumpheap to wander off aimlessly into nowhere.
