Appendix to Criteria for Surgery Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure

Letters ofRecommendation a. For all faculty, regardless of representation (AAUP or GFT) or track, any dossier submitted for reappointment, promotion or tenure must include a letter from the applicant's division chief. b. The letter may count as one of the three required letters. c. The letter should provide detail regarding the applicant's strengths and weaknesses relating to the departmental missions of: 1) clinical service, 2) education, 3) scholarship, and 4) professionalism.

II. Probationary period for affiliated PhDs in the tenure track is extended from 7 years to 10 years.
