of David’ is a phrase as definite, his torically, as ‘throne of the Caesars’ and as little admits of ‘spiritualiz ing’.” The Witch of Endor Why did God allow Samuel to ap pear when Saul went to the witch of Endor? Spiritualists bring this up frequently. There is much confusion among Bible teachers on this subject, but I must admit that the definite state ment that Samuel appeared to the woman, and that he spoke to Saul time and again, force us to the con clusion that it was Samuel indeed who appeared, and not a representa tion of Samuel by a demon. It is also true that the witch was herself badly frightened, because what had actually occurred was far beyond her powers. The keys of Hades are not in a witch’s hands but He who holds them in His hands did here a new thing and caused Samuel to appear and pronounce the doom of an apos tate king. All this, however, gives no warrant for spiritualism. (Read Lev. 19:31; 20:6; Deut. 18:10-12.) Johah and the Whale Do you believe that Jonah was really swallowed by a whale? I believe that Jonah was swallowed by a “ great fish” just as recorded in Jonah 1:17; 2:1-10; “ a sea monster” —read Matt. 12:39,40. No miracle in Scripture has incited so much un belief. This has been a bone of con tention for many years for critics have maintained that a whale did not have a gullet large enough to swallow a herring, let alone a man. These critics have been enlightened of later years for they have learned that there are large fish, even whales if you please, that have gullets large enough to swallow two or three men. Let us state further that if God could prepare a fish, He could create one with a gullet large enough to swal low a man. It is claimed that there are sea dogs in the Mediterranean Sea that can swallow a horse! Readers are invited to submit questions which will be answered in future issues. is to the existence of a real personal devil. As for babies being bom pure and holy, without sin, that is also quite contrary to the teaching of the Word of God, which declares we are all bom in sin, and are by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Seriously speaking there is really no profit in debating such questions with intellectual people who depend upon their reasonings rather than upon the Word of God. God has spoken, and there is nothing man can say to refute His Word. Unsaved Singers Can solos or special numbers sung by unbelievers be used to the glory of God? God is not limited and He can use these things to His glory. He can use a piece of dirty paper, if it hap pens to have the gospel written or printed upon it; if anyone reads and believes it he will surely be saved, despite the dirt upon the paper. Thus an unsaved person might even preach the gospel, and anyone hearing it, and believing it will be saved, but this does not mean that it is tight to employ unsaved singers or preachers to minister in the holy things of God. It is contrary to the Word of God. David's Throne W ill David’s throne be again set up? Certainly it will. Nothing is clear er than that the throne of David will be literally re-established. “For unto us a child is bom, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsel lor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with judgment from henceforth and even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will per form this” (Isa. 9:6,7; see also Jer. 23:5-8; Luke 1:31-33, and many other passages too numerous to cite here). Footnote on the Isaiah quotation in the Scofield Bible says: “The ‘throne

The Millennial Kingdom W ill all peoples of all nations who are living on the earth when our Lord returns to this earth to reign, participate in the millennial king dom? No; there will be what some have called the warrior judgment when He descends and those nations taken red-handed in opposition to God and His Christ will be destroyed by the brightness of His appearing. Then there will be the “ seasonal” judg ment as pictured in Matthew 25, as a result of which many will go away into everlasting punishment. The others will remain to participate in kingdom blessings. Cremation Is there anything in the Scripture against cremation for the believer? I do not know of any Scripture touching this point, therefore let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Personally, I do not like the idea, but of course, that has nothing to do with the case. The First Polygamist D o ' you understand according to Genesis 4:19, that Lamech was the first polygamist? Yes, I think it is quite true that Lamech was the first polygamist. The Revised Version reads: “And Lamech said unto his wives: Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man for wounding me, and a young man for bruising me: if Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly La mech seventy and sevenfold.” Sco field’s comment in the margin of his Bible: “Cain had slain an unoffend ing man and yet was protected by Jehovah; how much more Lamech, who had slain in self-defense.” Reasoning Rather Than God's Word What would you tell a very in tellectual friend who claims there is no such thing as a personal devil, and who believes babies are born pure and holy, -and if they do not turn out well it is because of their environment? I should tell my intellectual friend to read his Bible. There is no more definite testimony in the Bible to the existence of a personal God than there
