complaints, and suitability of staff. • Communicate and advise on key compliance changes to appropriate SMT members and, if necessary, all staff. • Provide advice and guidance to policy owners on any legislative changes not limited to the regulations mentioned. • Maintain up to date, detailed, clear records of compliance in relevant areas, and oversee the keeping of excellent records in areas overseen by other members of staff. • Work with senior staff to advise on and, if required, to develop systems and practices to ensure these guidelines and legislation are implemented. • Monitor and audit these practices to ensure that they are fully and consistently implemented, and that excellent records are kept. • Maintain careful and thorough records to demonstrate compliance. • Provide advice and guidance on data protection and management, including managing the response to data subject access requests and • Liaising with external providers to ensure compliant data practice from third party providers. • Communicate with and report to the Charity Commission. • Communicate with and report to the school’s insurers. • Initiate (where necessary), develop, maintain, and review the school’s policies on an ongoing basis and ensure statutory policies are in place and up to date, working with other staff to ensure that the ongoing policy review process is implemented in a timely and effective manner. • Maintain the policy review register and accurately record policy amendments, version control, policy approval, scheduling of policy updates and the maintenance of a policy archive. • Work closely with Senior Deputy data breaches and keeping the school’s data breach register.

(Senior school) and Head of the Junior School to ensure that documents required for ISI inspections are up to date. • Remain up to date with amends/changes to ISI guidance and brief SMT and teachers as required. • Ensure that all requisite documentation is up to date on ISI portal. • Complete aspects of the school’s Self Evaluation Form. • Oversee process of and assist with the compilation of compliance documentation as required for inspections. • With Senior Deputy Head (Senior School) and Head of the Junior School, make arrangements for the smooth running of inspection visits. • Conduct audits of key areas of ISI compliance including but not limited to Single Central Register, admissions and attendance records, premises and health and safety records, safeguarding, pupil recording, data protection and money laundering, anti-bullying behaviour and conduct, complaints and incidents, anti- bribery behaviour and conduct. • Promote a culture of compliance amongst staff through training and timely response to queries. • Provide regular compliance reports to SMT and for the governing body. • Act as a sounding board on legal issues, contractual matters pertaining to the corporation and its trading subsidiaries, including KCSWI. • Consult with legal advisers as required to resolve compliance and legal issues. • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability/risk, develop action plans for the mitigation of those risks and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. • Assist senior staff in the preparation and provision of any necessary papers and reports to relevant committees to include, but not limited to, Management Board, Policy Scrutiny Group (of which the Head of Compliance is Chair) and various Governor Committees. • Attend any board and committee meetings as required. • Attending appropriate meetings and events including professional development training courses as required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to: Bursar (Director of Finance and Operations) The Head of Compliance is responsible for working closely with the Bursar, Senior Deputy, and Head. They will ensure that the school is compliant with the regulatory frameworks in which it operates, to maintain excellent recording systems in all relevant areas, and to implement robust monitoring and reporting systems. The postholder will be accustomed to engaging with the detail of complex regulatory requirements. They will have excellent written communication skills, an eye for detail, a genuine enthusiasm for ensuring that systems and records operate efficiently and are regularly maintained, as well as a commitment to constant reflection and improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of Compliance has the following responsibilities:

• Ensure the school remains up to date and fully compliant with all appropriate regulations. These include, but are not limited to: • Independent Schools Standards and Regulations • Keeping Children Safe in Educations (KCSIE) • EYFS statutory framework and wider legislation • Data Protection and GDPR, ICO • HR and Finance (recruitment, employment) • Management/operational (anti-bribery, licencing, copyright, parent contracts) • Educational visits • Governance (Charity Commission, Companies Act) • Anti-money laundering • General sector-wide guidance including that issued by DfE • Maintain up-to-date and thorough working knowledge of the regulatory frameworks, relevant to the operation of the school, including but not limited to education, welfare, employment, health and safety, premises,
