Behind the Breeding
The Bright and Early ™ series is our first ornamental Brassica introduction and the target from the outset, was to breed a series which benefits both growers and consumers alike. The naturally compact habit makes it easier to grow with fewer PGR applications and therefore more suitable for smaller pots and packs. Additionally, no vernalization is required to induce coloring in the crown, so as the name suggests, you will see early
color, which is great for the growers and makes it a versatile series for all regions.
The cold tolerance means that Bright and Early ™ can be a great companion to other winter bedding plants such as pansy and viola from early fall, right through the winter, particularly in mixed combos. It gives great contrast and the frilly leaves are an added attraction!
