Bringing Newborn Support Home New parents in Orleans Parish can get a little extra support at home through Family Connects New Orleans. The free program provides one to three in-home visits with a registered nurse for families with newborns up to 12 weeks old who delivered at Ochsner Baptist or Touro Hospital. Nurses typically visit around three weeks postpartum to check in, answer questions, and connect par- ents with helpful resources. Because sometimes having someone come to you, especially during those first few weeks, can make all the difference. nola.gov

Angel’s Law, which went into effect August 1, establishes a statewide Perinatal Bereavement Care Initiative through the Louisiana Department of Health. The initiative is designed to help hospitals and health care providers offer more consistent bereavement care, while connecting families with resources and support following a pregnancy or infant loss. It’s a meaningful step toward making sure families don’t have to navigate such a devastating experience without guidance and care. legis.la.gov

Baby Monitors Go Contactless Baby monitors are moving beyond cameras and wearable sensors. Momcozy’s new BM08, launched this year, uses millimeter-wave radar to monitor a baby’s breathing and heart dynamics without putting anything on the baby. It also uses AI to detect things like crying, face covering, and stomach sleeping. The company says the monitor isn’t a medical device and shouldn’t replace adult supervision or safe-sleep practices—but it’s an example of how baby monitors are evolving from simple nursery cameras into increasingly sophisticated smart-home technology. momcozy.com
