Flint Unveils Sustainable White Paper

Esko Donates To Packaging Students

In a new white paper unveiled by Flint Groip Pack- aging Inks, an ambition to achieve transparent and sus- tainable supply conditions for the print and packaging supply chain is outlined. The white paper explores four key initiatives that have been developed as part of the Sustainable Supply Mod- el. These include: a Supplier Selection Process, which sees potential new suppliers undergo checks and finan- cial assessment to ensure appropriate trading capability is in place; a Sustainability Performance Assessment to compare supplier performance against 10 UN Global Compact principles and some of its sustainable devel- opment goals; a Health Safety & Environment Review to assess delivery processes and compliance to local and international packaging and labelling legislation; and a Quality and Regulatory Assessment, which considers compliance with regulatory requirements according to product, service, market and geography. Potential suppliers are provided with a score and if all parts of the Sustainable Supply Model have been effectively addressed, can begin working with Flint.

Esko has made a multi-million dollar donation to sup- port college and university students in their packaging engineering and technology studies. Esko has extended its no-charge donation of software licenses to leading educational institutions across the United States. The investment comes ahead of the com- mencement of the new school year and includes its structural design and production software platforms. Among more than 40 schools utilizing Esko software are Clemson University, Cal Poly University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Ryerson University, University ofWisconsin – Stout,Dunwoody College ofTechnology, Michigan State University and Indiana State University. “It’s widely accepted that our sector has an aging workforce and a skills gap continues to become more and more apparent,”said Melissa Plemen, Senior Direc- tor of Inside Sales and Marketing at Esko.“As techno- logical advances lead to changes within the sector, it’s vitally important that the industry supports the educa- tion and training of young people as we drive to de- velop and inspire the packaging experts of the future.”
