When the Street Crime Team intercepted the suspect, he was also found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle, a 2013 Mazda 6. Clinton Yvon Renaud, 36, of Ottawa was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and two counts of shoplifting. Shoplifting charge February 5, SCT members were informed of a theft that occurred the week before at the Jean Coutu Pharmacy on Main Street, Hawkesbury. An investigation with the surveillance system of the store resulted in the arrest of a woman. ST-EUGÈNE | An East Hawkesbury Town- ship man has been charged after a tractor was allegedly used during an attack on a woman in St-Eugène January 7. Alain Séguin, 54, of Concession 6 in East- Hawkesbury, was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and dangerous opera- tion of a motor vehicle. The charges were laid after the man was arrested by Constable Luc Dénommée of the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Po- lice detachment. A man, who was driving his farm tractor to remove snow, cut off a vehicle. The 24-year-old female driver ap- proached the tractor driver, who hit the woman in the face, police say. The woman retreated to her vehicle where she parked at a distance as she and her boyfriend wait- ed for police to arrive. The tractor then pushed the vehicle into a snow bank while they were inside the ve- hicle. The man was subsequently released with a promise to appear in court and the condi- tion that he not drive any tractor or snow- plow other than on his property. February 8, themanwas seen plowing en- trances in St-Eugène. He has phoned the ombudsman office and cleared the matter up. “But we will likely find ourselves in their statistics again,” he said. L’ORIGNAL | Having the counties council mentioned in the Ontario ombudsman’s year-end report is not sitting well with the regional director. Even if the report does state that the counties council has done nothing wrong. “I’m not happy with it,” said Stéphane Pa- risien, chief administrative officer for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR), during the Jan. 23 session of the counties council. Parisien was referring to the 2012 Ontario Ombudsman’s Annual Report of the Open Meeting Law Enforcement Team (OMLET). The report provides a summary of complaints that the ombudsman has handled concerning municipal and county governments failing to follow the rules and regulations of the Municipal Act for their meetings. The report noted that the om- budsman received one complaint last year that the UCPR had violated the Municipal Act rules about open and closed meetings. But the report also noted that the file was closed and the complaint dismissed after a preliminary investigation determined there was no basis for the complaint. Parisien’s concern is that the UCPR still ends up as part of the OMLET complaint files even after the ombudsman office
