Estates Project Manager – North of England

Reports to: Director of Estates

OVERVIEW Responsible for a portfolio of schools across the North of England, you will work on a range of projects with values up to c.£3m and will support the Director of Estates in striving to achieve United Learning’s strategic aims. This role will play an integral part in ensuring that high-quality school environments are developed to provide great places to learn and work. The Senior Estates Project Manager will liaise with Heads, School Business Managers and Facilities Managers to identify estates priorities, oversee the annual capital investment plan valued £5-12m and be involved in the strategic masterplan for schools and academies in the regions. This includes the allocation and monitoring of funding to ensure that schemes are briefed, designed, developed, and built to an exceptional standard ensuring value for money at all stages. LOCATION The role will be home based and will include regular travel to the various schools below. Regular travel to the group’s Central Offices (Peterborough and London) is also required

carbon neutral by 2030, including identifying decarbonisation projects across the schools. ▪ INVESTMENT – Develop, monitor and manage capital and maintenance expenditure plans. ▪ TRAINING – Develop guidance, advisory notes and training forums for colleagues dealing with Estates such as school/academy Business Managers, building managers etc. ▪ NATIONAL POLICIES AND STANDARDS – Review and advise on the impact of evolving educational premises legislation. Represent and contribute to relevant interest or policy groups on behalf of United Learning where appropriate. ▪ MARKET STANDARDS – In conjunction with others, review the emerging standards and services of similar organisations and make appropriate recommendations to ensure development of market position. ▪ CONTRACTS – Review existing contracts for services, works and material supply. Develop a quality and value-based framework for services, contractors and suppliers. ▪ STANDARDS – Develop standards for accommodation, design and construction to deliver national and United Learning requirements to ensure compliance to educational needs, flexibly, extendibility, low maintenance and low running costs.
