James Allen’s Junior School Activities

Cartoon Communications Explore how the famous artist Christoph Niemann takes everyday objects and through clever positioning and doodles, changes the meaning entirely. We will then be inspired to create our own artwork, starting with everyday objects and photographing our outcomes. Together we will explore how the different outcomes reflect how everyone has varying interpretations of artwork and has each communicated something different. Miss Fewell

Write a Hit Song! Using our powerful

communication skills, together we will create an uplifting song about what connects us all. Learn a new fun sung chorus, write a rap verse in small groups, and add in some movement or body percussion. Mrs Pochin

Forest Treasure Maps In this session you will explore the Copse at JAGS, where you will create maps to help someone else to find hidden treasure. Mrs Martin Possible Present In this philosophy decision-based activity you will explore how human connections are formed through receiving and giving gifts. Mr Earnshaw

Connections and Communication in foreign languages. During this session, you will be learning how to understand how foreign people feel when they are trying to learn or speak English. We will focus on German and Italian native speakers (which we are!) and we will ask you to have a go at speaking those languages, to show you how it feels to be a “foreign speaker”! By sharing this experience with us you will be able to connect and communicate with others better. It will be interactive and lots of fun!

Kate Royal We are delighted to welcome soprano Kate Royal as one of our keynote speakers. Kate will be sharing her expertise as an acclaimed award winning Opera singer.
