IT’S A FACT!

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Melanoma is not just a skin cancer. It can develop anywhere on the body – eyes, scalp, digestive tract, genitals, under the nails, or even in the mouth. Today, there are nearly 1 million people living with melanoma in the United States. Melanoma does not discriminate by age, race or gender. Everyone is at risk. Most cases of melanoma are caused by exposure to UV light and sunlight. Melanoma can spread to the brain, liver and lungs, making it very difficult to treat in later stages. Indoor tanning beds are proven to cause cancer and are classified in the same risk category as tobacco, arsenic and asbestos. Early detection is key. Monthly self-skin exams may help you catch melanoma early.
