The course requires students to complete a minimum of 100 hours of experiential learning that mirrors work done by professionals in the informa- tion sciences. Practica are flexible and can be tailored for a particular site and/or student, and are open to students who have completed one semester of coursework in their major. Practica students are paid at for profit companies, but may be unpaid at nonprofit organizations, and may be completed in one semester or spread out over two semesters. REMOTE PRACTICA EXAMPLES FOR MS STUDENTS • Data analytics projects • Assessment and UX/UI support • Website support, creation of blogs and other digital content • Metadata and database work • Virtual reference/technology assistance (chat/email) • Assisting with digital collections, updating reference guides • Research related to exhibits and collections

We also have a bachelor’s level version of Practicum. The course is essentially the same but the work would be more appro- priate for undergraduates.
