A major renovation through the original MAPS initiative gave the building new life and expanded its role as a cultural hub in OKC. Today, the Civic Center hosts a wide range of performances—from Broadway musicals to ballet, opera and symphony concerts. The venue is home to resident companies including the OKC Ballet, OKC Philharmonic and Painted Sky Opera, and welcomes touring productions throughout the year. The Civic Center staff programs additional shows at the Hudiburg Events Center in Midwest City, broadening the reach of live entertainment in the metro. Local talent shines at theaters across the city. The Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Jewel Box Theatre, Carpenter Square Theatre and Painted Sky Opera produce a full season of performances, from classic musicals to debut dramas. You can catch shows at their home stages or at the Civic Center. For outdoor performances, Oklahoma Shakespeare presents plays at the Paseo Arts District’s open-air stage.
