open: the Rockwell center at 11501 N. Rockwell (operated by Healthy Living OKC) and the Pete White center at 4021 S. Walker. A third center at 3748 N. Lincoln opened in December 2023 under Community Health Centers of Oklahoma. The fourth at 13660 S. Western opened in May 2024, managed by the YMCA of Greater OKC. Under MAPS 4, the city plans to construct a fifth senior wellness center, with the YMCA selected in 2024 as its operator. MEDICAL CARE OKC offers some of the country’s finest medical services, including a leading heart transplant team, a major medical research center and one of the most respected eye institutes in the profession. The city also is home to a proton therapy center—one of the few in the nation— providing advanced cancer treatment. Residents can choose from 35 hospitals in the area. Many provide specialty care in oncology, hematology, orthopedics, burn treatment, hearing and vision, neonatal services, infertility, spinal disorders and sports medicine, plus urgent care after hours.
The state’s only Level I trauma center, with MediFlight service, is based in OKC at OU Health, making it a regional hub for critical care. In addition, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center was recently upgraded to a Level II trauma center, giving emergency responders another option. OKC’s growing biosciences and biotech sectors further reinforce the strength of its medical infrastructure, with local institutions engaged in the development, innovation and delivery of cuttingedge health technologies. OU HEALTH OU Health is Oklahoma’s only comprehensive academic health system, combining hospitals, clinics and centers of excellence. It serves as the clinical partner of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, one of the nation’s most extensive academic and research campuses. With around 11,000 employees and more than 1,300 physicians and advanced practice providers, OU Health comprises Oklahoma’s largest network of doctors and offers a full array of specialty care.
