NMC NI Contracts Ltd renovated and extended a 1930s carriage house into a self-contained living area with all the charm of high ceilings, brass fittings and hardwood floors. The judges loved the fact that, even though it was a complete renovation, there was great attention to detail to keep the feel of the original building. It was also “really refreshing to see a building repurposed rather than demolished and replaced with a new build.” The client praised the contractors not only on the quality of the finish but also for going above and beyond to keep the family safe and comfortable during the renovation. Kitchen Project of the Year WINNER: NICKELL & RICHMOND
The stunning bespoke kitchen impressed the judges with a sense of sophistication inside out. Taking pride of place in this new build by Nickell & Richmond, the kitchen space to the rear is clad in black cement fibre panels to ensure a seamless finish, and the kitchen/living/dining areas are flooded with natural light, served by 3m high glazed panels and a slide patio door. A bespoke fire-proof surround was created to accommodate a bio-ethanol fire, and the contrast of the matt-finished cabinetry, stone worktops, dark wood and reclaimed brick feature walls are exceptionally well-finished. Director Steven Nickell said, “We are delighted to receive recognition from FMB on this very bespoke project.
