The 29-acre site continued to operate as a military barracks until 2003. “We were installing 21st century technology into a 19th century building structure, so there were obviously some access obstacles. But despite having to navigate the limited ceiling voids, installation was a great success.” PUBLIC SPACES City Multi VRF units from Mitsubishi Electric were installed in all public bars, restaurant, lounges and function room. Again, it’s ideal for hotels. As a heat recovery system, it provides simultaneous heating and cooling and moves energy to where it’s needed, reducing power input, offering flexibility, operability, comfort and control. This year, Air Cool Engineering celebrates 25 years in business, and has come a long way since the early days of Martin working from a spare room cold calling and knocking on doors.
Now operating from purpose-built offices, the firm has grown into one of Northern Ireland’s most reputable heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractors, with a highly skilled and experienced team of nearly 30. As demonstrated by this four-star deluxe hotel job, the scope of work and the scale of its projects have also changed hugely over the years. The HVAC contractor now has a diverse client base which includes well-known high street stores, hotels, surgeries, offices, restaurants, and health and beauty salons. Commenting on the completed Ebrington Hotel project, Martin said, “We are delighted to have played a part in making this world-class hotel a comfortable destination for local and international visitors alike. We are also proud to have installed a state-of-the- art hybrid air conditioning system, which will deliver running cost savings and environmental benefits to the hotel’s owners.”
