THE EBRINGTON HOTEL, DERRY

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR

A M Electrical carried out the electrical installations for the renovation and new build project. The scope of works included: removal of and alterations to existing services; installation of steel containment system, new distribution circuits, lighting and emergency lighting; small power distribution/adaption; power distribution to mechanical equipment. Works also comprised: CCTV, fire alarm, access, four-star deluxe Ebrington Hotel intruder alarm, structured cabling, television systems, disabled refuge intercom, lightning protection commissioning, testing and verification of installations. Commenting, Anthony Feeney, Director at AM Electrical said, “We overcame the challenge of integrating modern containment and equipment within tight constraints due to the building’s listed status. “Proactive measures were crucial to anticipate and manage issues, meeting

a strict opening deadline for licensing. Effective communication with the main contractor and client ensured adherence to project vision, schedule and quality. Regular client contact allowed us to be responsive, efficient and maintain project schedules and costs. He concluded, “We are delighted to have completed our largest project to date and this is the first hotel we

have been involved with from the ground up. Previous hotel projects were refurbishments of existing buildings.”

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

W ith vast experience in hotel and leisure projects, Conway McBeth (CMB) provided comprehensive cost management services in support of the delivery of the four-star Ebrington Hotel in Derry. CMB was involved from the inception of the project in 2016 to its completion, establishing initial budgets for the overall hotel development and tracking its development, as it moved through the various project stages. Brian Conway, Director at CMB, commented, “Capturing and aligning project costs to budget availability is always the challenge of the Quantity Surveyor and with a turbulent economic development period, this was more prevalent than ever before. Attention to detail was key, along with pooling the knowledge of the combined design, contractor and client teams in order to capture and report on holistic costs.” Brian concluded, “McKelvey Construction
