PROJECT

THE EBRINGTON HOTEL, DERRY

INTERIOR DESIGN

I nterior Design by Eamon Carberry was inspired by Derry’s maritime tradition to bring the interior of The Ebrington Hotel to life. “All carpets were individually designed with reference to the maritime heritage of the city – the carpet in the restaurant features a map of the world, while the theme is carried through to the corridors with an up-scaled compass design marking the intersections,” Eamon explained. The design also used colonial aspects throughout the hotel to establish an old- world feel with a modern twist as a nod to the old barracks. “The majestic site inspired us to create a castle-like interior, with Parisian styling, where an eclectic mix of old world meets the modern day. A rich tapestry of yester-year murals, botanical scenes from Tuscany, and neoclassical images in monochrome, complemented with contemporary styling, were designed to give the hotel residents and customers a chocolate box

of wonderful curiosities and artefacts from all around the world,” he added. Touches of opulence are also present in the gold-leafed ceilings and the drapes with leather and linen braids. Having worked on this project for over two years, from concept to completion, has been highly demanding but very rewarding for Eamon. “Seeing all of our hard work come to life and the clients’ delight at the finished product has been most exciting,” he said.

“Working closely every day with the client, RPP Architects and all the sub- contractors has proven to be a great success. We are proud to have been in charge of the design aesthetic of this beautiful new hotel and wish them every success in the future.”
