This advanced web seminar will clarify the proper use of “double-decker” position controls in GD&T. There are two distinct types: composite position (one symbol) and two single-segment position controls (two symbols). These are commonly used to locate patterns of features (bolt circles, etc.), but they are rarely taught in any depth. In this course, participants will learn the difference in showing one vs. two position symbols and the importance of the datum references in understanding each meaning, per the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard. Many samples will be shown of the proper tolerancing of patterns of holes and pins that use each method.
