As the world’s leading aviation educator, Embry-Riddle is also a research center focused on manned and unmanned flight, cybersecurity and data analytics, propulsion and high-performance vehicles, autonomous systems and robotics, sustainable energy and space systems and operations.

Flow speed of our subsonic wind tunnel 230 + MPH 60 MIN Drive from the Space Coast to our research facilities, which are adjacent to Daytona Beach International Airport

The John Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex (MicaPlex) centralizes specialty labs and business incubator services at the Embry-Riddle Research Park in Florida. Faculty, industry partners and 17 disruptive enterprises are advancing long-range, remotely piloted aerial systems, lightweight battery technology for aerial platforms, smart sensors for turbine engine diagnostics and a space tug. The U.S. Navy is using our high- fidelity, large-scale, fully instrumented subsonic wind tunnel to assess risks caused by airwake when helicopters land on ships. Our Next Generation (NextGen) FAA Testbed is improving the safety and efficiency of National Airspace System management, including air traffic control upgrades. Our Next-Generation ERAU Advanced Research (NEAR) Lab provides consulting services, including simulations and data analysis, to the private sector and the Federal Aviation Administration. The Eagle Flight Research Center is developing hybrid turbine/electric aircraft. Propulsion technology has earned two U.S. patents and patents from Great Britain, Germany and France. Patents are pending in Brazil and Canada. The Robertson Safety Institute includes an aviation center, archives, an aircraft investigation lab and labs dedicated to materials testing, ergonomics and industrial hygiene.

Seed funding secured by entrepreneurs in our research park $ 10 MIL
