FC Zimbru Chisinau is a Moldovan football club based in Chisinau (population 674,500), the nation’s capital. In the domestic league, Zimbru has historically been the dominant force, winning eight league titles and five Moldovan Cups. Zimbru's monopoly for the Moldovan championship was interrupted by Sheriff Tiraspol, which has a different strategic focus to the club from the capital.
