All in a day's work With many of us trying to walk the ‘prescribed’ 10,000 steps per day, our warehouse team walk double that and more, as a matter of course. Our warehouse footprint isn’t big and its layout is optimised for peak efficiency but our wonderful customers keep our small and agile team on their toes, picking and packing your orders by hand, 5 days a week. With a target of 50 orders per hour, per person there’s no time for slacking! While many of us are still dozing or deep in peaceful slumber, Denise and Laura are ready to get the day started, opening the building at 5.30am and beginning the process of managing today’s workload. By 8.00am Royal Mail pull up for their first of two visits of the day. In the morning we receive posted in customer orders and a small number of returns. When they pull up at the end of the day, they are here to collect a truck load of cages, packed with customer orders, which through the course of the year total in excess of 200,000 parcels. By 8.30am the rest of the warehouse team are on site, armed with their skip trolleys to pick and
pack customer orders and with their paperwork to receive goods in deliveries from our suppliers and manufacturers. With most of the team living locally in our hometown of Brampton, everyone knows each other really well, in part as many of them have worked together for near on 10 years. There’s no jostling for priority in the aisles, just a little friendly competition to get the job completed in good time. The warehouse is at the heart of the building and along with Radio 2 playing classic hits, there is always much banter, with different departments popping through to see how everything is going. Our team are the first to see new product arrivals which always create a buzz throughout HQ as everyone is keen to see the new styles, and get them unpacked and onto our warehouse shelves. Once you meet the warehouse team you’re not surprised to learn how brilliant they are at organising and supporting our charitable fundraising events and team building socials. At this time of year, things are getting busy as we prepare for the arrival of our new season stock…watch this space as all will be revealed very soon.
