Teaching & Learning The course is delivered partly through taught sessions and partly through employer- supported work-based learning. You will be taught in small groups and there is individual tutorial support to assist with the planning and checking of coursework. Assessment You will be assessed using a variety of methods, including essays, case studies, reports, observations, individual and group presentations and a dissertation proposal. Progression The FdA in Health and Social Care will enable you to work at a higher/management level within the health and social care sector, and/or top up to the one-year BA (Hons) in Adult Social Care degree programme here at HSDC, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree programme at a university. Entry Requirements To include: – A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (MMM grade), or similar qualification e.g. A Levels or Access to Higher Education (equivalent to 96 UCAS Tariff points) – You must be employed or doing voluntary work in a health or social care setting for a minimum of 12 hours per week. You should

have the support of your employer or voluntary setting (unless self-employed) and have a satisfactory enhanced DBS check – Two GCSEs at grade 4 or above, which should include English Language. A written task for applicants without evidence of GCSE qualifications can be undertaken How to Apply A UCAS application is required, which can be accessed via the course page on the HSDC website.
