2 Promotes personal and professional growth / development

• NSBE help me in so many ways to become a better person, to help me have better public speaking skills, and just grow up as a young black female role model in my community and school. • I feel that NSBE is a great organization and a great resource. As the world changes, it is painfully clear that engineers are needed more than ever. NSBE has the opportunity to be the #1 resource for growing and retaining talent. I try to engage friends and colleagues who are in the STEM fields because we are the future. • Because it provides a great opportunity to build a future for yourself • I have completely committed my life to NSBE and wouldn’t be where I’m at today without NSBE. • My RPI NSBE chapter is very involved and welcoming. They provide professional resources and workshops that I believe are valuable. • It has made me who I am. • NSBE is a premier organization for black STEM professionals as well as student of all ages to engage, grow and learn. • I first heard about NSBE when I was an undergraduate student at Georgia Tech. The professional development of this organization is the best, and the friendships that I made at GTSBE will last forever. I was fortunate enough to have met individuals that have distinguished themselves in the industry. If you want to be an engineer, this is the group to join. I am forever thankful to have been a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. • Great resource for students.

• “I first joined NSBE in 1987 as an undergraduate and my experiences as Chapter President and on the Region 1 REB shaped my last years of college. Without those experiences and the support of NSBE, I do not think I would have graduated from college. I was able to connect with other students who were struggling to make it despite the challenges of being a person of color at a predominantly white institution. • After a PCI community service event, I became interested in teaching high school. After years of teaching math and engineering, I was an NSBE Jr. advisor from 2012 - 2012. I enjoyed providing students with activities to develop their professional skills, network with like-minded students and envision engineering as a career path. • Although I have transitioned out of the classroom, I am looking for more opportunities to work with NSBE to impact the lives of school-aged children.” • I am a former Chapter President and have reaped the benefits of the personal and professional development I received during my collegiate career. • NSBE membership adds value to your career and life. • Professional development, training, and mentoring opportunities • “This society has literally helped save my professional and personal life. From personal support groups for mental wellness, physical health and even keeping me motivated to stay in school, I am able to keep going in my profession and have obtained multiple opportunities for development. I also help mentor and advise my collegiate chapter which helps pass the torch along the way.
