INTERHOUSE EVENTS Athletics We had 20 boys qualify for finals on Athletics Day, with many earning top three placings. In U14, Angus Gifford was 3rd in shotput and discus. In junior, Jordan Braithwaite was 2nd in the high jump, Thomas Stephens was 1st in javelin, and Angus Thorne 3rd in the 400m and 2nd in the 100m hurdles, 800m, 1500m and 3000m. In intermediate, Louis Gunn was 3rd in the 800m and triple jump, and 2nd in the 400m and long jump. Sean Rutherford-Bradford was 3rd in the 200m and 2nd in the 100m. A strong number of boys participated in the non-championship events, with some pleasing placings amongst them. The intermediate 4 x 400m relay team won their race! Cross Country We started Term 2 with the school cross country and the boys got stuck into and ran reasonably well. Some boys ran particularly well earning top 10 placings. In the U15 grade, Angus Thorne came 2nd and Matthew Lewis was 9th, and in U16, Sam Willems was 3rd and Isaac Aitken was 8th. House Music Jacobs House performed well with great results, earning three placings from the four sections. The small vocal group achieved 3rd with their performance of Billy Joel’s “Longest Time”. This was the first time we had a small group entered in a very long time and makes the achievement all the more special. The backing band earned 2nd with a great performance of “Chelsea Dagger” by the Fratellis, and the instrumental group went on to win their category with an outstanding performance of the INXS classic “Never Tear Us Apart”.
