ORCHESTRA In Term 1 the focus was on getting the various groups playing together. For the orchestra, this meant working towards the Orchestral Extravaganza held in April. Now in its third year, this combined event with St Margaret’s College and Rangi Ruru Girls’ School is a celebration of orchestral music culminating in an evening performance in the Assembly Hall. The orchestra also performed at concerts at St Margaret’s, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’s Secondary Schools’ Orchestra Festival and at the Sedley Wells Music Competition. A number of boys played in national orchestras in 2019: New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra
