The new venue is at the Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub. Although it will be windy in the next few years until the shelter grows, this facility is at an Olympic standard in terms of quality and is sure to produce many top performances in years to come. ATHLETICS CAPTAINS This year’s captains were Oliver Beresford, Alex Hemens and Matthew Todd. They organised the team of athletes who helped set up the track for Athletics Day and they were there helping run the heats for the championships during the lead up to the event, including judging some events. They also had the added responsibility of helping me manage the College team at the Canterbury and South Island secondary school championships. I want to thank them for their contribution to athletics over the past years. ATHLETICS DAY There was good weather for these championships. I would like to thank all the staff and boys who helped make the event a success. It is a huge logistical exercise, with a lot of work behind the scenes before and during the event. Many staff generously gave their time to help with the heats and processing the results, and I really appreciate their assistance. On behalf of the boys, thank you. The event could not be the success it is without your hard work and contribution.
