• Significant experience in a similar role and of managing maintenance and estates teams • Experience in the management of listed heritage buildings • Proven experience in the management of technical plant and equipment knowledge of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Systems and Building Management Systems (BMS) are essential • Project management and multi-stakeholder planning experience allied to at least three significant developments or commercial projects • Experience in collaborating on the production of complex legal documentation relating to property • Effective team leader and motivator • Ability to conduct appraisals, train and induct new staff, and act as a role model • The ability to achieve results through a combination of effective planning, clear direction, delegation and influence • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to prepare and effectively present structured papers, budgets and proposals to management, peers and user groups • Networking, communication and presentation skills

• Professional qualification and membership of a professional body in one of the main building disciplines, electrical or mechanical engineering • Significant experience in the management of a complex estate • Sound knowledge of estates, engineering, building and facilities services • Effective budgetary management and financial planning skills • An in-depth understanding of establishing end-user requirements, service standards and the importance of a customer focused service delivery • Ability to make risk adjusted decision making, contract management and production of output specifications • Ability to act as a point of reference to others with clear evidence of effective management of a team, within Estates and Facilities, that incorporates a diverse range of relevant skills • Effective knowledge of working with framework contractors, putting together preferred lists of suppliers and contractors, developing effective management tools to ensure high quality work and effective cost controls • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and as a member of a team • Confidence in own abilities and awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses • An understanding and interpretation of legislation relating to; e.g. water hygiene, electrical and statutory compliance, estates and buildings and Health & Safety • Competent IT skills (Excel, Database and MS Project)
