referred, as well as others in the Gospels, speak of Christ in His self- humiliation. They reveal His willing submission to the Father for the purposes of redemption. He was co equal, co-eternal, co-existent, and co essential with the Father. But, for the purpose of redemption, He be came man. Here was the perfect blending of deity and humanity. This gives us an excellent pattern for our submission to God. These passages then relate to Christ in His media torial ministry of reconciling man to God. When the Lord Jesus prayed that the disciples might be one, He referred to a spiritual unity. A spir itual unity is something that no de nominations or amalgamations can accomplish. John 14:20 indicates the wonderful truth of the indwelling of the Godhead in the believer. Q. Sunland, Calif. — “What is the state of a born-again Christian after death? Are they awake or asleep? Do they have a heavenly body, or do they wait for their resurrected body when the Lord returns for His church?" A . This is a very significant ques tion. For a believer, his body goes to the grave or whatever happens to it into mortal decay. The spirit goes to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. The body is referred to as being asleep, never the soul. The abode of the unrighteous dead is occupied now, by those unsaved awaiting the final judgment, at the great white throne of God. We do not know the nature of the heavenly body of believers. Scripture is silent on this particular point. We do know that when we get our res urrection bodies, they’ll be fashioned like unto His glorious body. Q.
