Sustainability & Energy Manager - Birkbeck

Reporting and Communication • Collect and maintain data related to energy use, carbon emissions, and other sustainability metrics in line with reporting requirements including People and Planet League, HESA’s Estate Management Report (EMR) and the EAUC’s Standard Carbon Emissions Framework (SCEF). • Produce regular reports on sustainability performance for Birkbeck’s senior leadership team and other stakeholders. • Communicate successes and challenges in sustainability efforts to Birkbeck’s community through various channels. Please note that this job description reflects the core activities of the role and as the College and the post holder develops there will inevitably be changes in the emphasis of duties. It is expected that the post holder will recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work and to participate in training.

Working Relationships and Contacts • Liaise with the AARM and Deputy Director of Estate and Infrastructure to advise and report on all works either being planned or undertaken in the short, medium, and long- term. • Liaise and communicate with internal colleagues and external consultants to manage and inspire meaningful and targeted change. • Engage with external consultants and contractors, developing strong commercial relationships using your excellent communication skills effectively. • Co-ordinate and liaise directly with Departments/Schools to ensure that they are made aware of projects and initiatives, and where inputs are required from them, these are clearly communicated to bring about successful outcomes. • Facilitate the interaction of all working groups/ teams/departments responsible for the delivery of actions and policies identified
