To honour those who make the extraordinary decision to include Dulwich College in their wills, we invite them to join the Canon Carver Society. Named after Canon Alfred James Carver, a transformative Master of the College from 1858 to 1883, the Society celebrates the generosity and vision of legacy donors. Members of the Canon Carver Society are invited to exclusive events, including our annual lunch, where we recognise their contributions and share updates on College life. Earlier this year, we were delighted to welcome Sir Colin Rimer OA (1954–62) as the new President of the Canon Carver Society. Sir Colin’s longstanding support of the College and his dedication to fostering the values of the Society ensure its continued success in celebrating our legacy donors.

The generosity of our supporters enables us to transform lives and broaden access to a Dulwich education. The creation of The Gerry Thornton and Andy Wilson Bursaries exemplifies the enduring impact of philanthropy, offering life-changing opportunities to Alleynians for generations to come. Similarly, legacy gifts play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Dulwich College. In the last year alone, we were honoured to receive £226,000 in legacy gifts, reflecting the deep connection so many members of our community feel to the College and its mission. Legacy giving is among the most impactful ways to leave a lasting mark on the College. Whether large or small, legacy gifts provide essential support that strengthens the College ability to fund bursaries, enabling talented students from diverse backgrounds to benefit from a Dulwich education—just as many of our alumni have before them.

“I am not sure that I fully appreciated the excellence of a Dulwich education until after I had left the College. Now, I have no doubt about the opportunities such an education affords. I have long been a supporter of the Bursary Programme, one directed at opening the College doors to as wide a community as possible. The giving of a legacy to the College is one of the best ways for grateful alumni to express their appreciation of all that the College once did for them and to enable talented pupils to benefit from this transformative opportunity.”
