Travel 2 Australia & New Zealand 2018/19

ME LBOURNE Day 1: Melbourne to Yarra Valley - Dandenong Ranges (56km) Famous for cool climate wines, the Yarra Valley was chosen as a prime vineyard location by French Champagne house Moët & Chandon in 1986. Cheese aficionados should visit the cheese room, where ripe cheese is matched with De Bortoli wines, and can be consumed on the balcony. Overnight at Yarra Valley Lodge. Day 2: Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges to Phillip Island (140km) Phillip Island is deliciously close to the Southern Gippsland Wine Trail, so you can start sampling the region’s distinctive wines before you reach the island. Once there, you’ll find 2 wineries as well as a surprising number of restaurants and cafés. Highly recommended is the Foreshore Bar and Restaurant in the little beach front hamlet of Rhyll. Overnight at Comfort Resort Kaloha Phillip Island. Day 3: Phillip Island to Mornington Peninsula (105km) Surrounded by water on 3 sides, the Mornington Peninsula offers visitors white sandy beaches that are within close proximity to the fine wines of the region’s 50 cellar doors. Some of the Peninsula’s best restaurants are found in the vineyards. Overnight is at Quarters at Flinders Hotel Mornington Peninsula. Day 4: Mornington Peninsula - Melbourne (75km) Depart the Mornington Peninsula and then make the return journey north to Melbourne along the Nepean Highway and Melbourne’s beachside suburbs. PRICES INCLUDE • 3 nights’ room-only accommodation • Breakfast at Yarra Valley Lodge and Quarters at Flinders Hotel • Avis car rental for the tour duration
