Days 1 & 2: Perth - Margaret River (275km/ 171 miles/ 3.5 hours) Head south from Perth towards Bunbury and perhaps stop at the Dolphin Discovery Centre, before continuing to Busselton, home of the southern hemisphere’s longest jetty. Then it’s on to Margaret River for a 2-night stay. On your free day spend some time exploring the vineyards, boutique breweries and fine gourmet restaurants. Watch the locals take on the awe-inspiring breakers at Surfers Point, or take a trip to visit the spectacular cave systems including Mammoth, Jewel and Lake Caves, the latter home to a tranquil underground lake. Standard: Darby Park Serviced Residences; Superior: Pullman Bunker Bay Resort (2 nights) Day 3: Margaret River - Pemberton - Albany (378km/ 235 miles/ 5 hours) Next, it’s on to Augusta, Australia’s most south-westerly point. Here, stop at the windswept lighthouse of Cape Leeuwin to witness the meeting of the Indian and Great Southern Oceans. Continue your journey to the ‘Tall Timber Country’ of Pemberton and stop off at Northcliffe to view the famous forest sculptures. Then drive to the eerie Valley of the Giants, a forest of gigantic tingle trees and take a bird’s-eye view of the towering forest as you walk the daunting ‘Tree Top Walk’, a lightweight bridge that ascends into the tree tops 40 metres above the rainforest canopy. Continue to Albany, known for its natural

Day 4: Albany Your day is at leisure to discover Albany. Step back in time and explore convict jails, old taverns, whaling ships, settlers’ cottages and grand National Trust homes in beautifully landscaped grounds, perhaps following the Amity Trail, a 30-minute self-guided walk that takes you past historical buildings of note. Visit Whaleworld, Australia’s last operating whaling station and from Jun-Oct, watch out for magnificent humpback and southern right whales who come to the waters before migrating north for breeding. Day 5: Albany - Perth (432km/ 268 miles/ 5.5 hours) Head back to Perth on the Albany Highway, perhaps stopping at the Stirling Range National Park, or the historic pioneer settlement of York. Standard: Travelodge Hotel Perth; Superior: Mantra on Hay Day 6: Perth Your tour concludes in Perth on day 6.
