Day 4: Melbourne – Alice Springs Fly to Alice Springs. On arrival visit the School of the Air and hear how it delivers education to children living in remote areas. Next stop is the Royal Flying Doctor Service, where you’ll learn how this facility provides a ‘mantle of safety’ to the people of the outback. ‘Be My Guest’ in the evening and join in on a discovery tour at Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre. Enjoy an Aussie barbecue dinner and afterwards hear from the Falzon brothers, Tom and Danny, about the sustainable lifestyle they have established. (BD) Chifley Alice Springs Resort Day 5: Alice Springs – Ayers Rock Travel through the West MacDonnell Ranges today and pause to view majestic Atila (Mt. Conner) often mistaken for Uluru, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the resort’s facilities. Later, travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area to witness and photograph the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine. (B) Desert Gardens Hotel (2 nights) Day 6: Uluru & Kata Tjuta touring This morning experience the magical Uluru sunrise before gaining an insight into the traditional owners of the land, the Anangu, as you tour the caves at the base of Uluru. Marvel at ancient rock art found there and hear stories of the Aboriginal Dreamtime. Travel over the red desert plains to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and take a walk through the majestic rock domes at Walpa Gorge before experiencing a Kata Tjuta sunset while enjoying a sunset drink with your travelling companions.
