Y11 Bulletin 28.04.23

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11 We have had such a productive time with Year 11 these first couple of weeks back. As we approach the final weeks of formal teaching, before students go on study leave, I wanted to share my thanks to all the students who have remained focused and diligent in their school work. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and hope that they continue in this vein for the rest of their time at Waldegrave. There was some outstanding work in the Year 11 Art Exam this week. Myself, Mrs Dhir and Ms Tongue all went along after the event to see the students’ fabulous work. It is clear from the high calibre we saw, that the Year 11s have been working so hard on their final pieces - well done! We also want to congratulate all our MFL speakers who completed their speaking exams this week. I know that Mrs Robinson is impressed with how maturely you handled these orals and she praised your resilience and determination. There have been a number of music successes over the last couple of weeks and I would like to congratulate Xanthe D in 11SDR for passing her Grade 3 Trinity Singing exam with a Merit, Annie C.W in 11PMU for passing her Grade 5 LCM Musical Theatre Singing exam with a Distinction and Maja S in 11EGH has passed her Grade 5 LCM Musical Theatre Singing exam with a Distinction! We have another busy week ahead. Please be aware of the upcoming strike day next week on Tuesday - all communication regarding expectations for Year 11 has been sent to all parents/carers. Please can you check the timings for those days and ensure that your child comes to school in full uniform. We have lots of exciting events coming up to mark Year 11s final days at Waldegrave. Formal communication will be sent out to parents in due course with information regarding timings, however all students are now aware that the Year 11 Dress Up Day will be on Wednesday 10 May followed by the Year 11 Final Celebration on 11 May. The final celebration will be an event in which we will be inviting parents/carers into school - more communication around this will be sent by Mrs Dhir.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

He Said / She Said by Erin Kelly “The betrayal flayed my skin, but his cowardice chips the bone. It poisons the marrow.”

Laura thought herself the hero when she saved a young woman from a brutal attack. This would go on to change her life in ways that no one could have predicted. Now she and her boyfriend Kit live constantly in fear, tiptoeing around society, trying to remain as invisible and off the radar as possible. However Laura knows that something is hidden, she is never quite seeing the whole picture of the story. This gripping thriller leads to crazy character developments and

horrifying revelations up till the very last page. ~Recommended by Miranda H, Year 9 student
