Black Coffee to make history as the first South African DJ to perform at Madison Square Garden, NY, this October. Black Coffee, a Grammy award-winning DJ, has longed to perform at New York's Madison Square Garden and his dream will soon come to fruition later this year. He will be the first South African DJ/producer to headline the venue, which has a capacity of over 20,700 people. The "Drive" hitmaker shared the exciting news on Instagram, expressing his joy about performing his music and sound at the highest level possible and reaching the largest audience imaginable. Black Coffee also stated that his debut at Madison Square Garden has been a dream of his for many years and he is excited that it is finally becoming a reality.

At just 23 years old, Simphiwe Sihawu (Mr Thela's real name) is already making waves in the music industry. His solo project Tronics Land Series 1 was released in November 2022, and he gained recognition for his joint album Make Cape Town Great Again with DJ Mshayi, which features a new Gqom gospel sound while staying true to the genre's roots in KwaZulu-Natal. The album's lead track iParty became a hit across the country and was even picked up by streaming giant Netflix for the soundtrack of the movie Jiva. Make Cape Town Great Again was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) and was nominated for Best Gqom Album at the South African Music Awards (Sama) 2021. With his talent and success, Mr Thela is another shining example of South Africa's thriving music industry and its global impact.

Local DJ, producer Mr Thela takes Gqom to South Korea.

Mr Thela, a local DJ and producer hailing from Samora Machel, Phillipi in Cape Town, is set to bring the vibrant sound of Gqom to South Korea. Following in the footsteps of Grammy Award- winning South African artists like Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode, and Wouter Kellerman, Mr Thela is preparing for his first international gig in Seoul and Songtan this March.
