A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

This week saw the launch of the Year 7 fundraising campaign for the Lepra Leprosy Charity. Each year we encourage our students to come up with some creative ideas to raise money for this worthy cause both in school and at home. Participation is not compulsory but any contribution no matter how small is welcomed. Funds raised can be put into a Lepra envelope available from the form tutor or can be donated online on our Just Giving page. The fundraising period will continue until the end of the half term and then Lepra will put on a Zumba dance class for Year 7 in June. Congratulations to Alice W, Phoebe K, Judith K and Rose E for being the top four in the Maths Pi Day competition that took place just before the Easter break. Well done to Phoebe K who took part in the Grazer Acrobatics Cup 2023 in Austria and came second out of 7 contestants in the Women’s Pair 12-18 category where her opponents featured clubs from the UK, Czech Rep, Spain and Germany. A super achievement! I would also like to congratulate Aiko W in 7SGR who earlier this year entered an Art competition run by the British Antarctic Survey. Out of over 250+ entries Aiko’s entry was picked as the winner! Click here to view her amazing art work. Our top three performing forms in the House Points competition this week are 7POR, 7EFR and 7PWA. Well done everybody! Improving literacy continues to be an important part of our school development plan. In Year 7, form groups follow a ‘Read Aloud’ scheme each Wednesday and often have the opportunity to do some individual reading. Please can parents and carers help facilitate this by ensuring that all Year 7 students have a reading book with them each day.

It is about a normal boy who finds out he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. He is then brought to a camp for all the children of Greek gods. After trying to settle in, he is selected to go on a quest and that's when the adventure begins… ~Recommended by Eva A, Year 7 student
