Jax State Football Home Opener Set For September 5

It will be followed by a trip to Western Kentucky where the last three regular season meetings between the two sides have been decided by a field goal in the final minute of regulation. Jax State will host Sam Houston on November 21 before heading to Delaware on November 28 to wrap up the season. Information regarding season and single game tickets will be available at a later date.

School’s girls’ basketball team proved it’s not how you start, but how you finish. The Lady Wildcats (33-4) trailed by 14 points early in the Class 5A AHSAA girls’ basketball championship game. However a 9-0 run to start the second half gave Guntersville the momentum the program needed to rally for a 68- 22 State Championship victory over Moody. Guntersville 6-foot-4 center Bristol Cook scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half and the Wildcats made 6-of-8 free throws in the final 1:21 to earn the victory. “Bristol promised me that she wasn’t going to get into foul trouble,” said Guntersville coach Kelly with the first coming on August 29 at North Dakota State. The program's home opener at AmFirst Stadium will take place on Saturday, September 5 against Eastern Kentucky. This will be the 20th meeting all-time between the Gamecocks and the Colonels with Jax State leading the all-time series 11-8. On September 12, Jax State will head to Ohio for a rematch of the 2024 Cure Bowl. The non- league schedule ends on September 19th with the Gamecocks hosting Georgia Southern. The Class 2A Girls Blue Map Trophy also made its way to Jackson County, as the North Sand Mountain Girls defeated Cold Springs 41-28 in the state championship.
