A Letter from Otis Hi Beverly & Sue,

but they had a mirror and I saw myself. Looking pretty good! There is a bell on the door that I get to ring when I want out. Mom comes running when I ring it. She’s learning pretty fast. Maybe one day she can go potty without me, but I doubt it. I have to remind them to put the T-paper away or their cats would get it everywhere. I know from experience I’d be blamed. She complained once that she was a clutterer. Once I figured out what that was, I knew I could help. When she gets up, I just see what she left behind. Now she puts her stuff up. I knew all along I could help her. Getting her completely trained may take some time. You wouldn’t believe how often I get treats. She has them everywhere. I get told to sit or heal and out pops a treat. She started to say lay down and still she gives me a treat for that. Now don’t tell her but if she’s giving me treats to lay down, I’m going to milk that one. Not sure what but something is going to happen. Mom is putting strange things around my neck and on my back. I bet it’s going to lead to more treats and adventures. I was told it said, “Service Dog”. Mom said that having me breathed life into their home. I think, I’m the Lucky one. OTIS

You asked me for a letter saying why I benefited having a Woof for Vets dog. I don’t think this is what you had in mind but I had fun doing it. I’m Otis, a Bernie doodle, and boy do I have a story for you. I was born into a litter of twelve. At three months and 30 lbs. the place was pretty full. People started showing up and we started to become fewer. Mom and Dad said they were going to their forever homes. One day people came for me. They took me on a long car ride. I loved looking outside until I started feeling sick. The funny looking people didn’t get mad. He had white fur on top of his head and a belly I couldn’t wait to bounce on. She kept looking at me with those stupid puppy dog eyes. Now, I have to do everything! The one with white fur chases me around. I have to play with him all the time. I run and jump and try to run around stuff while he raises those paws of his over his head all weird like. I usually run here and there until enough is enough. Mom comes to protect me from the “Monster”. I pay her back though. She has to go out on walks so I go along. But first I have to help her get ready of course. Finding her shoes is so much fun. She gets one on while I take the other one to the door and patiently wait. I know she’d rather lose the shoe or go to the wrong door. This way she would not forget I was going to. Once out the door the real work begins. She was telling her hand thing one day about getting hit by a truck. She said she was in a crosswalk with a cart when it happened. She cried and said it had really hurt and that she still had problems. Now I have my work cut out for me. Not only do I have to make sure she finds her way back to the right door but I have to watch out for trucks to. I walk on the left side so the big trucks won’t get to her. I haven’t had to bite one yet, but I watch. My new Mom is slow so I have to be patient and not pull. While I love to go with her, I’m really tired when I finally get her home. I’ve been at my forever home for a month now. Had all my shots and a bath with a blow thing. It was so windy
