“Rito 72” (Rito 707 of Ideal 816 71), born in 1971, was an important cornerstone performance sire for the Angus breed and for the Jorgensen herd. He was the high selling bull in the inaugural “Jorgensen Brothers Genetically Proven Angus Sale,” selling 1/2-interest for $15,000 to Grant Angus Ranch (ND), which would equate to a total value of over $233,000 in 2026-dollars. Rito 72 joined his full-brother-in-blood (Rito 149) at ABS where he was noted for transmitting growth, added muscle, uniformity, and productive daughters which led to him earning Pathfinder Sire status through AAA. While at ABS, Rito 72 ranked in the Top 10 for annual registrations for three consecutive years: 1976 (ranked7th), 1977 (ranked 4th), & 1978 (ranked 6th). In addition, Rito 72 was the only sire in the ABS Beef Sire Directory, of any breed, with a perfect score on progeny appraisal traits. During his development to yearling, Rito 72 blew past his contemporaries with a WW ratio of 113, a YW ratio of 116, and a gain ratio of 116. In addition, Martin Jorgensen utilized a K-40 Counter to evaluate each bull for Total Pounds of Lean Meat and Lean Meat per Day of Age (L/DA); Rito 72 ranked #1 for L/DA, 1.19 lbs. of lean meat per day of age, which ranked 26% higher than the average of all bulls on test. Over his lifetime, Rito 72 amassed Progeny Ratios of 103 for WW, 102 for YW, and his 1085 daughters in AHIR post an impressive combined 102 WW ratio. His most famous progeny include: Jetliner 707 of Conanga, Rito 206 (Rito 72 of Ideal 533), Rito 83 (Rito 72 of 033), Rito 111 (Rito 72 of Ideal 3156), Rito 119 (Rito 72 of Ideal 3166), KAF Thunderbird 707, a
