2023 Ivy Tech Indianapolis Commencement Program

Honorary Degrees Ivy Tech Community College awards Honorary Degrees in College and Community Service to select individuals each year. The following individuals have shown exemplary service to the College and/or the community and are being recognized with honorary degrees during today's ceremony.

DUJUAN MCCOY DuJuan McCoy is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1985. He continued his studies in the city, graduating from Butler University in 1989 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Sales. He began his television career soon thereafter as an Account Executive for WTTV in Indianapolis. Over the past 30+ years, he has amassed a great career growing small, medium, and large market television stations into revenue winners while significantly improving the companies’ profitability and community involvement. MIRIAM ACEVEDO DAVIS Miriam Acevedo Davis is the President & CEO of La Plaza, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides essential health, social services, and workforce development programs for Latino families and education programs for Latino youth to prepare them for academic success, college, and careers. In 2004, Ms. Acevedo Davis oversaw the merger of the Hispanic Education Center, El Centro Hispano, FIESTA Indianápolis, and La Plaza. For the past two decades, as the metropolitan population of Latinos has risen by 480%, she has built La Plaza to be the trusted and reliable leader in the provision of critical services and programs for Latino youth and families. This trust is borne from her commitment to excellence, accountability, and impact.
