A reoccurring theme in terms of challenges to come out of our survey was the need for more understanding around the bid profession, which can hinder finding the right role and gaining buy-in as to the profession's importance. As a business we cover bid roles on a national level. We would expect at least half of our candidates to be located in London historically, but thanks to a move towards remote and hybrid working many of our candidates are located across the UK.

EDUCATION Our clients don't necessarily expect our candidates working in the bid arena to have a degree, but education to a degree level does enhance your chances of securing a role for the more senior level opportunities that we have available.

RECRUITERS 64% of our survey respondents use a specialist recruitment agency such as Bid Recruitment when searching for a new role, however interestingly many stated that it's also "who you know" that tends to open doors.

WORK PATTERN On the whole the majority of the roles that we recruit for are offered on a hybrid basis post the pandemic. Surprisingly 46% of our survey respondents reported that they work fully remotely.
£55 k AVERAGE SALARY FOR BID MANAGERS
TIME IN ROLE Interestingly over a third of those surveyed have moved roles in the past year, highlighting the transient nature of the role. In contrast 20% have been in the same role for 5 years or more.
SALARY The Bid Managers that we recruit for on average command salaries of £55,000 and above. Specialist technical writers can earn significantly more. 34% of respondents surveyed stated that they earn £70,000 or above.

SECTOR Of those respondents who stated 'other', the majority said they work within the facilities management sector. Unsurprisingly, as our parent company MRG, specialises in recruiting in this arena and our clients often benefit from working with both of our group brands.
