ChiroSecure's Best Of Live Events

chiropractic care over the last year. Those that are in active care, as well as those that are not, as new patients, and those that haven't come into the office yet, they all have this concern about safety. So I would tell your practitioners, be proactive in addressing that. Don't assume that if the patient says something to you then you respond. If they say, "I have a concern about safety," or, "I'm not sure about you cracking my neck so to speak," or whatever it might be, then you address it. If I were in practitioner mode right now, I would address it with every patient that comes into the office proactively, whether they ask a question or not. I would put charts in the waiting room like the one I showed you that you can download. Right hand click and download that from Palmer's website, or I'm sure Dr. Stu and other folks have charts that are similar to this. Put them in a frame and stick them in your waiting room some place where patients see them. Because even though the patient isn't addressing safety directly with the doctor, the doctor should know that safety is on their mind, so be proactive in addressing this. I really appreciate you saying that, and I want the audience to really take note of that. I agree with you 100% that this should become part of your standard communication skills in making sure that the patients are comfortable right off the bat. There are many different methods. The point of today is not to train or educate the doctor on how to communicate all of these things, but it is important to take note and be aware of, and I really appreciate your perspective on it, Denny. Well that takes us to year two, and for year two we wanted to have some of the same questions based on utilization. We wanted to see, was that just a crazy year that we had last year that showed the high utilization, or is that something consistent? We also wanted to dive into the safety and perceived effectiveness of different managements and so forth, as well as some other topics, so if I could go to the next slide, I'll share with you that in the second year, we had a survey that was even larger than the first year. In the second year we surveyed over 7,600 US adults, and with an error rate of about 1.8% of the data that I'm showing you, we found that the utilization rate was very similar to what we found in the first year. In the first year it was 14%, which was actually 13.7 rounded up to 14, and in the second year it was 14.5% which we rounded up to 15%. You can see the last 12 months, 15%. If you take the 11% previous to that, then you've got your number of 26% over the last 5 years, and so forth. Back to our far left hand side of this chart, you can see it's 47% that have never been to a chiropractor. That was 49% in the first year, so we are within the 1.8% basically of error over these two years, so the good news is we can trust these high utilization rates. More people are seeing us. This translates to a lot of people. That's 36 million Americans that saw us over the last year, and 62 million Americans who've seen a chiropractor in the last 5 years. That's a lot of people.
