Dr. Hoffman:

As most of you know, ChiroSecure doesn't just fund our own research, but rather we fund as many research project as we can that have the potential to finely document not only the efficacy of chiropractic for musculoskeletal pain, but also research that is also more likely to show the value of removing subluxations and its effect on longevity and human performance. Today's show is to make you aware of the research that is actually going on in chiropractic and, more importantly, how to take all of that research and use it in your daily practice with your patients and potential patients. Because one of the things that I find as I go around the country and talk to doctors and talk to them from the platform one on one, it seems that so many chiropractors aren't aware of all the research that actually is in the chiropractic profusion even though we're told over and over that there's just nothing to substantiate what we do. Today, we're going to address what is evidence-based practice, also the important of an evidence-based practice and barriers to that evidence-based practice. I'm going to get to our guest today, who I am so excited to have on here ... Dr. Dean Smith, who has been a ChiroSecure client for as long as I can remember and we really appreciate him on so many level. He's going to talk about all of the research you need to know about for all of your evidence-based practice. Dr. Dean, I want to introduce you and welcome you to ChiroSecure and our show and have you start off with a little presentation about the research projects. We want to see what we can do to incorporate this information into our viewers' practice. Very good, Dr. Hoffman. I really appreciate the kind introduction. I will go ahead and start the PowerPoint presentation here. As Dr. Hoffman said, my name is Dean Smith. I'm a chiropractor and I went back to school to get a master's degree and a PhD so that I could understand how research works and then apply it to chiropractic. I run a podcast, and it's called chiropracticscience.com. It's available on iTunes. What we do is we allow the chiropractic scientists to actually tell us what their research is all about. Over this presentation, I'll give you a little bit of information about what an evidence-based practice, as Dr. Hoffman said, what the barriers are, and what kinds of things we talk about on the podcast. Just a little bit about myself. AS I said, I'm a chiropractor. I've got a master's degree in exercise science, a PhD in brain and cognitive science, and my main research interests are to investigate the effect of chiropractic on human performance. I look at things such as gait, postural control, muscular strength and the like. Mostly
